DELIVERANCE FROM FAMILY BONDAGE

There is a burgeoning of interest in the subject of deliverance among Christians in this new millennium. More and more people are coming to grips with the fact that it is impossible to enjoy one’s life on earth without going through some form of spiritual deliverance. This situation is more pertinent when we consider that Africans and blacks in the Diaspora are products of negative foundation.

For an individual to appreciate the level of bondage in his life that person could cast his mind back to what happened in the lives of his grand parents two hundred years ago.

One may have to ask questions like: Who are or were my grand parents? Did they fight inter-tribal wars? Did they get involved with ritual killings? Did they sacrifice to the gods of the land? Did they bury people alive?

Did they throw mothers of twin babies to the evil bush or forest? Did they consult powerful fetish priests before they could have children? Were your forefathers hunters and warriors who sucked human blood? Did they pay homage to powerful gods and goddesses in order to prevail over their enemies?

By the time you obtain sincere answers to these questions, you will have discovered that your ancestry was deeply demonic, bloody and terrible. No doubt, the conduct of your progenitors would have injected a lot of demonic viruses into your life.

A high percentage of the bondage, which people have gone into today, could be traced to the evil foundation or platform, which was constructed by their parents. If you fail to go through total deliverance, you will continue to pay dues as a result of the fact that your present and future life has been mortgaged to the devil. You will only stop paying these instalmental dues when you decide to subject yourself to thorough deliverance.

Almost every family has one sort of family bondage or the other. You must seek deliverance from family bondage and hindrances, from what your parents and

forefathers did and inherited. Inherited bondage is worse, especially when the sufferer is unaware of its existence.

Family bondage is the worst form of bondage as it is corporate and collective in nature. It is like coming under an evil umbrella. When such a dark shadow is cast over your life, certain things will happen to you, no matter how hard working, intelligent, gifted or exposed you may be.

For over 30 years now, I have listened to pathetic and heart-rending stories which border on extremely distressing situations. I have also watched with a lot of passion and pity as millionaires shed tears uncontrollably. I have listened with mouth agape as those who have reached the top of their careers in medicine, the military, politics, business and academics break down and slump like vegetable, as a result of shattered dreams and inexplicable life situations. What is more, my heart has been touched by the stories of ministerial failures narrated by respected men of God. As I think of these cases, something keeps on ringing in my heart: Family bondage! I have discovered that many people are carrying the cross constructed by their fathers and forefathers. This is the toughest battle to fight.

One of he saddest things in life is when a person suffers not for having committed any offence but because of where he or she comes from. If you are a member of a family under bondage, it is akin to being under an evil umbrella. If you must get out from under this evil umbrella, be prepared for a serious battle. To worsen the situation, some people sponsor such evil bondage by their own acts.

John 10: 10 says,

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

THE POWER THAT PUTS FAMILY IN BONDAGE

What is the power that puts families in bondage? It is the power of the thief. It steals from families. Many families are already ‘stolen’. Why is the enemy interested in stealing families? It is because he knows the importance of the institution of marriage. He knows that God Himself abhors loneliness, and that marriage is a very serious issue. The enemy knows that marriage can make or break you, and cause all other things to go wrong. The enemy knows that the

family is like a church within a church, a wall within a wall, a republic within a republic.

The enemy knows that when things run smoothly within a family, things will run smoothly in every area; and that when things go wrong in marriage, things go wrong everywhere else. He knows that the family is the building block of civilisation.

Some of the wicked spirits in the universe are fighting specifically against marriages. This is the reason many people face problems. The enemy has looked at you and has realised that if he allows you to go ahead with a smooth marital life, the home will be quite risky to him, so he is busy struggling hard to frustrate you. But you shall end up frustrating your enemy, in the name of Jesus.

EVIDENCES OF FAMILY BONDAGE

None of us chose our parents at birth, or the colour or race to belong to. We simply find ourselves in our families. If you have observed the trend in your family and discover that the family has been in poverty from generation to generation, with no evidence of any member of that family who lives comfortably, this should nudge you to suspect family bondage.

Maybe, in your family, you often observe that some members do get to the edge of a breakthrough but everything often falls apart. The contract that would give someone a vital breakthrough would always almost get signed, then, on the day it was to be signed, news would suddenly come that the managing director has died, of course, without signing the contract. If you notice that things always fall apart at the last minute, or that, people never get started on any good project, and even when they start, they never finish, or that those who are married are suffering or that majority are not happy with their marriage, and some are not married at all, you need to pray with holy madness to ward or cast off such evil patterns.

Maybe you have observed that your mother is not able to identify the father of your siblings, or that she is no longer with your father and is living alone or with another man, then you need to pray, as this evil anointing may be the source of your problem.

Perhaps you are from a polygamous home and you observe that all men who

have approached you for marriage are already married, or that you always break relationships with those who have approached you without any genuine reason, you certainly need to pray. You may be a victim of family bondage.

In many African families, there is often this thing called spirit husband or wife, whereby all the ladies in the family are married to a particular spirit husband. This manifests in a situation where all such ladies are unable to keep a marriage.

It may also be that you have observed a particular type of sickness afflicting member of your family from one generation to the other. For example, if you observe that, in your family, two persons or more have died of cancer, you need to pray. In fact, there is a terrible development in some parts of the world right now: Ladies whose mothers had died of breast cancer, quickly go and have their own breasts removed, believing that if they fail to do so, they too will eventually be afflicted with cancer of the breast. But the beautiful thing is that the Bible says “Call upon Me, and I will answer.”

If you notice also that in your family, a lot of young men die prematurely and that you are the only one that is born again in that family of perhaps chronic idol worshippers, or that your married sisters are always the ones feeding their husbands, you surely need to pray for there is a family bondage at work. One way you can do this is by praying the way you have never prayed before: with a spirit that believes that immediately you have prayed, you will receive a solution. If you fail to deal with it, it may swallow you up in the end.

A person born through accidental pregnancy, or outside marriage, or of a mother who was passed to another man after the death of her husband, needs to pray.

CAUSES OF FAMILY BONDAGE

In the African setting, there are many things that cause family bondage.

BAD MARRIAGE FOUNDATION. When the foundation of a marriage is faulty, that fault will spread like waters of a river through all the children, thus polluting all the whole family. For instance, when a family or community is to be poisoned, the target is often a communal pond or pot from where its members draw water. It is the same way with a family bondage resulting from faulty marriage foundation. Because of this, you need to sit back and consider seriously

how your parents’ marriage was contracted; whether they had a proper marriage.

Was your mother properly married or merely given to your father? By the time you start to ask these questions, you will discover what went wrong.

GENERATIONAL CURSES. When a family is under a generational curse, it runs through the members of the family. There will always be that negative tendency to do things wrongly in a family under generational curse.

EVIL DEDICATION. When a baby is dedicated to a deity like Sango or Amadioha, such idols automatically have influence over that baby and its own children. The same situation applies when a mother dedicates her child to the Lord Jesus Christ. If you have been dedicated in this way, and you refuse to get born again, your life will be rough and upside down, with Jesus Christ pursuing you because of your dedication to Him. In the same way the idols you have been dedicated to will pursue you until they catch up with you. It is only the blood of Jesus that can break their hold on you.

EVIL COVENANT. When a family has been put under an evil covenant, it will affect the life of every member of the family. Some of us may have noticed that it is not only in our marital lives that we wage battles, but in several other areas as well. For this we need to pray vigorously.

BEWITCHMENT. What is bewitchment? It is that power to influence a person through witchcraft. In this way, an entire family may be handed over to a witches’ coven and, one by one they get slaughtered.

OCCULTIC INVOLVEMENT. If any member of your family belongs to a lodge society, or such evil association, then you become a subject to its evil manipulations. Were you born in the white garment church or in a herbalist’s house or named ‘Raphael’, or other strange names, which are not found in the Bible, you need to pray seriously as these cause problems.

STRONGMAN. An entire family can also come under the bondage of a strongman, who dictate to the whole family. Some of us may have noticed that anytime we pray really hard, we see a figure trying to attack us. This figure may be the family strongman.

THE WAY OUT

What is the way out of all these? The first step is to sit down and make a list of ancestral sins in your life, then confess them to God and ask for His forgiveness for all of them.

Third, we need to surrender ourselves to Jesus Christ. Those under family bondage are not only fornicators, and if they are, this can only strengthen their bondage. We should not play with sins. If we do, we shall end up strengthening our bondage. It is equally necessary for whoever is under a family bondage to pray deliverance prayers.

If a pregnant woman is kidnapped, the innocent foetus in her womb suffers with her, so do members suffer in a family that is under bondage. If the pregnant woman’s kidnap resulted from her careless walk, certainly it is not the fault of the baby, yet it suffers with the mother.

The time has come for believers to pursue the enemy into the Red Sea. The time has come for people to realise that all forms of lackadaisical prayers are inadequate to deal with the enemy. The time has come for us to stop playing church and decide that we need our freedom and definitely want it, The time has come that if the enemy is busy rejoicing over us, we should check our own lives.

After reading this book we would no longer remain the same. You have to believe that immediately after you have prayed the prayer points at the end of this chapter and you will obtain dumb-founding results. The Bible says, “Believe the prophets, and you will be saved.” So you must believe and determine to stand in this gap for your family.

DEALING WITH THE SPIRIT HUSBAND OR WIFE

Let us quickly see what Isaiah 52:l-2 says:

Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean. ²Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

This passage is very important. Just as there are physical marriages, there are spiritual marriages as well. In Genesis 6:1-5 we see that there are some spirits

bent on destroying daughters and sons of men. These are the types of spirits we are determined to deal with, in this chapter. As it is possible for one to be attractive physically, so also it is possible to attract demonic forces, and these demonic forces are very terrible.

A spirit husband is the spirit that wages war against marital institutions and its purpose is to pollute the life of its victims. It is a cruel and jealous spirit, which would go to the extent of killing people in order to carry out its wishes. You should wage war against spirit husbands or spirit wife and command them to die in Jesus’ name.

There are various categories of spirit husbands and spirit wives. Some people are conscious of them and others are not, nonetheless, they keep operating in our lives.

Some people can see and talk with their spirit spouses, and there are invisible ones we cannot see or talk with. A spirit husband hates marriage and whenever in operation, its activities are aimed at ensuring that its subject remains unmarried, or it breaks up the marriage.

There are some spirit husbands who pay the full bride price to get married to a woman in the spirit realm; and once this has been done; the victim will find it difficult to get married in the physical realm. This way, a lot of people’s efforts at getting married are thwarted time and time again. A lot of people from the riverine areas find themselves in this category.

If you have sexual intercourse in the dream, you have a spirit spouse in your life. Likewise, when you see yourself giving birth to a baby in the dream, this shows the activities of a spirit spouse in your life. These are marriage destroyers. But how do we deal with them?

To really deal with spirit spouses, you must run away from all evil deeds. If you have been having extra-marital affairs or going to bed with someone you have no intention to many, you must have been strengthening the bondage of a spirit spouse over you.

The second thing you have to do is to locate the entry point of the spirit spouse into your life, then reject and renounce the evil marriage because God does not allow marriage between a human being and a spirit. It is only species of the same

kind that should get wedded together.

The next thing you have to do is issue a bill of divorce against such spirit spouse, which may be an inherited one or tribal one operating in your life. Whichever category it may belong to, you should develop a strong hatred for it and pray fervently against it so that you can be left to enjoy your life as ordained by God.

DELIVERANCE FROM EVIL MARITAL PATTERN

Nahum 1:9 says,

What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

Evil marital patterns afflict many families. They are curses by the devil to make marital promises fail in people’s lives.

An evil marital pattern can also be termed a collective captivity in a family. It makes all members of a family to follow the evil pattern the devil has drawn for them. It makes a person see what is good for his or her life but not to be able to achieve it, or enjoy it.

The enemy uses evil marital patterns to frustrate many people, but the Bible says, “Affliction will not rise the second time.” This means that evil marital patterns that the enemy has designed for you and your family shall not continue.

The plan of God for His children is very clear in His word. It says that a man shall leave his mother and his father, and the woman too shall leave her father and her mother, and both of them shall come together, and shall become one flesh. This is God’s perfect plan. The Bible also says that, “Whosoever findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour from the Lord.”

An evil marital pattern, is what the devil uses to torment and harass people from getting married. When a man has a divided mind on every sister that comes his way, an evil pattern exists in his life. Likewise, when the men who approach a sister are married men, it shows an evil marital pattern. As you read this book, every evil plan against your life shall be destroyed, in the name of Jesus.

If you observe that only unbelievers, or unserious men are approaching you for

marriage, there is an evil marital pattern in your life. Financial problems after marriage is the activity of the evil one. If no one has approached you for marriage there is an evil marital pattern in your life. When those who approach you for marriage always have one thing or the other to complain about you, in spite of your efforts to please them, and the relationship invariably breaks up, this indicates the presence of an evil marital pattern in your life.

A brother once narrated his experience to me about a sister he once proposed to many. On the very night that he proposed to the sister, her spirit husband appeared and beat him up with his penis which measured about six feet long. The brother woke up with bruises all over his body and decided to abandon the sister. This is one prove of the existence of an evil marital pattern.

Your own case may be that you have prayed several times and each time you are close to a breakthrough, you start having bad dreams, problems, or a terrible sickness afflicting you. But as long as your prayer does not touch this area of your life, everything goes on smoothly. This is a design that the enemy has fashioned for your life. You need to pray fervently for whatever evil pattern that may have been designed for your life to be destroyed.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Every spirit working against my marriage, depart now and never return, in the name of Jesus.

• Every family bondage, break, in the name of Jesus.

• Every inherited spirit husband or wife, die, in the name of Jesus.

• Fire of God, burn away all family yokes, in the name of Jesus.

• Every covenant binding me to a spirit spouse, break, in the name of Jesus.

• I release the spirit of destruction upon all stubborn household witchcraft in charge of my life, in the name of Jesus.

• I fire back all witchcraft arrows affecting my life, in the name of Jesus.

• Every household witchcraft padlock fashioned against my life, be roasted, in the name of Jesus.

• My soul, come out from every witchcraft bewitchment by fire, in the name of Jesus.

1. Every power holding on to my marital breakthrough, break up by fire, in

the name of Jesus.

1. I withdraw my life from every anti-marriage curse and covenant, in the name of Jesus.

1. As from today, I refuse to follow every pattern of evil marriage, in the name of Jesus.

1. Every evil river flowing into my life, dry up, in the name of Jesus.

1. I strive against evil marital patterns in my life, in the name of Jesus.

1. The problem that occurred in my parents’ lives shall not occur in my own life, in the name of Jesus.

1. (Lay your right hand on your chest as you say this:) Afflictions of evil marital pattern, stop, in the name of Jesus.

1. My life, you must not follow any evil pattern, in the name of Jesus.

1. Whether the enemy likes it or not, I will get married, in the name of Jesus.

1. Any old witch disturbing my life, what are you waiting for? Die, in the name of Jesus.
